The Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS) is Iowa’s premier law enforcement agency. The Department consists of 4 sworn divisions and 5 bureaus dedicated to keeping Iowa safe! DPS is seeking highly qualified and motivated women and men with exemplary personal ethics and superior physical and mental capabilities for challenging and rewarding careers in law enforcement.

Entry level positions:
State Trooper (Iowa State Patrol)
Fire Inspector (State Fire Marshal Division)
Gaming Enforcement Officer (Casino)~(Division of Criminal Investigation)

Seasoned established officers can request internal transfers between divisions and work in both uniformed and non-uniformed positions over the course of their career. Additionally, the department has specialized units such as K-9, Air Wing, Executive Protection and Tactical units which are also possibilities for later assignments.
